Got Books???
Uncategorized May 5th, 2009
Good morning!!!
It dawned on me that it has been awhile since I have given a book away!
SO, why don’t you leave a comment and tell me about a great movie, book, or song that you have been enjoying lately and your name will be thrown in the pot to win this awesome, poetic book on marriage - one of my faves!
I will draw a winner on Friday.
(And for those who have been hanging around this joint for awhile, yes, it is THAT book AGAIN! Don’t worry, I am almost out of my spare copies and I promise to order a few different books for future give aways!)
Enjoy the day!

Hello, I just found your blog a few days ago, I love it. So encouraging. I am currently re-reading one of my favorite books, Blue Like Jazz. I read it a few years ago but I decided to read it again. It is so inspiring. This morning I read the following in the book, the author’s thoughts on marriage:
“I will love you like God, because of God, mighted by the power of God. I will stop expecting your love, demanding your love, trading for your love, gaming for your love. I will simply love. I am giving myself to you, and tomorrow I will do it again. I suppose the clock itself will wear thin its time before I am ended at this altar of dying and dying again. God risked Himself on me. I will risk myself on you. And together we will learn to love, and perhaps then, and only then, understand this gravity that drew Him, unto us.” Donald Miller from Blue Like Jazz
Sorry for the long comment, but I thought this was such a beautiful picture of God’s love in relation to marriage.

The song that’s on my heart right now is one of the last songs I wrote recently. It’s about actions of gentleness to shine through and about truly loving everyday. My heart longs for that so much. My song is my prayer.
Thanks for your blog. It brings so much hope and beauty.

“Sacred Marriage” is a great book as is “The Book of Romance” by Tommy Nelson. Please don’t include me in the drawing; I have so many books to read right now.

Cara Thankyou for your blog!! I’ve been listening to Addison Road…What Do I Know Of Holy first thing in the morning. Feel like its talking to me everyday. If you’ve never heard it you should take a listen
“I’ve made you promises a thousand times…tried to hear from heaven but I talk the whole time…I think I made you too small…never knew you at all…If I touched your face would I know you…looked into your eyes could I behold you…What do I know of you who set me into motion…where have I even stood but the shores along your ocean…are you fire are you fury are you sacred are you beatuiful…”

The one movie that I cannot get enough of is “The Notebook”. It’s such a beautiful story of how young people can fall in love and stay in love throughout the ages. The thing I love most is that it doesn’t assume that love is easy; it actually promotes the fact that love ISN’T easy, and that happy endings are what you make of them. It conveys the fact that love is about sacrifice, life changing decisions, and the committment to work hard at making it last. It makes me cry every time!

I recomend The Five Love Languages: How to Express Heartfelt Commitment to Your Mate. This is an excellent book.
